PaperFig Terms of Service

PaperFig (the "Service") is a web application that generates scientific figures using AI. By using the Service you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, don't use it.

You sign in with an email. You are responsible for keeping access to that email secure. You must be at least 13 years old to use PaperFig.

You agree NOT to:

• Upload content you don't have rights to use.
• Upload documents containing patient identifiers, PHI, or other regulated personal data.
• Generate figures that depict identifiable real individuals without consent.
• Use the Service to create misleading, defamatory, or illegal content.
• Scrape, automate, or resell the Service without written permission.
• Attempt to reverse engineer or break the Service.

We may suspend or close accounts that violate this section.

PaperFig uses a pre-paid credit system. New accounts receive a promotional credit allowance that may change over time. Credits purchased through Stripe expire 90 days after purchase. Operations (figure generation, edits, prompt assistance) consume credits at the rates shown in the app at the time of use.

Refunds: we offer a full refund within 14 days of purchase for credits that have not been used. After 14 days or once credits have been consumed, purchases are non-refundable. Contact us at the support email below to request a refund.

You own the figures generated from your prompts. PaperFig grants you a worldwide, royalty-free, perpetual license to use the generated figures for any lawful purpose, including academic publication, teaching, and commercial use.

You are responsible for ensuring that figures you publish comply with the editorial policy of the venue (many journals require disclosing AI-generated figures — check your target journal).

The PaperFig name, logo, code, and website design are ours. You may not copy or republish them. The underlying image-generation and language models belong to their respective providers and are used under license.

We aim for high availability but make no uptime guarantees. The Service depends on third-party APIs (Replicate, Anthropic, Stripe, Supabase) and may be unavailable while they are.

The Service is provided "AS IS" without warranties. Generated figures may contain errors, hallucinated content, or inaccurate text. You are responsible for reviewing every figure before using it in any publication or presentation.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, PaperFig's total liability to you for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the 90 days preceding the claim.

We may update these terms. Material changes will be announced via email or in-app notice at least 14 days before taking effect.
